Mar 15---Behaviour and Rules and Education

In hour 1 we spoke about behaviour in Dubai. What is acceptable and what is not. The government has a new law tabled that will clearly define what you can and can not do and the penalty for a lapse in good judgement.

Hour 2 Ian Gilbert was in studio talking education. What are rules for anyway? What is a good teacher? What is a great teacher? Finally we had a talk about Independent Thinking Ltd, how they might be shaking things up!

I wholeheartedly agree. "When in Rome do as the Romans do". Westerners seem to expect that they take their behavior and culture with them where ever they travel. I applaud the Dubai govt for attempting to maintain the dignity of their home.
I live in the US in a tourist location and it seems that when people Americans in particular are on vacation they behave in a manner that they would not DARE do if they were at home.
I am offended by people shopping and going into eating establishments wearing their swimsuits with no cover-up or engaging in Public display of affection ( Groping) in Public.
It is sad that people need to be policed to behave rather than taking it upon themselves to show respect for themselves and those who are subjected to watch them.
Dubai seems to be a beautiful place to visit and maybe even to live but when visitors take advantage of their hospitality and subject everyone to inappropiate behavior then everyone suffers.
Maybe a middle ground would be to inform the visitors that there are certain behaviors are not acceptable.
I trust that a middle ground can be found.
