Wind-Down Wednesday Summer Mix tape 2013

If you can dream it you can do it! Sure, many people will say that this is one of those sayings that is misleading and only builds up a false sense of hope among people. I am a believer in the dream, do, be mentality and here is why. Years ago we moved to the UAE where I took up a position as a professor, associate professor today, at Zayed University. In the time between 2000 and 2013 I got into radio as a producer/presenter, only to hear CBC like radio in the UAE. I did not have any formal broadcast experience and here I am today a producer/presenter on Dubai Eye. Fast forward to 2013 and a radio program called Wind-Down Wednesday with Paul Kelly of Triplew.me. Wind-Down Wednesday is a forum, open mic if you like, to regional indie music talent. We have been playing indie music from the region on the show and several weeks ago wondered if we could pull together a mix tape of our favorite songs from the season. How hard would it be to get 12 artists to give us the rights to create a free download of their music? Really hard. How hard would it be to create a CD cover that looks good and has all the relevant information? Hard. How hard would it be to put the package together and make it sound great? DOes anyone have the time? If you can dream it you can do it! Paul did all the hard work and made the mix tape happen, you can get the download below or give it a listen.

REVIEW

THESE ARE GREAT SOUND AND GREAT VALUE 2 THUMBS UP!

  • SONY MDR-XB920 599DHS

  • good value for the price
  • http://www.sony-asia.com/product/mdr-xb920
Interesting ear cups, pressure-relieving cushions
impedance 24 ohm
(below 25 requires less power for good sound 25+ more power for good audio levels)
frequency 3-28000hz
The audible bandwidth for most human ears is 20 Hz - 20kHz anything out of that range is for super heroes. Ultra-low frequencies less than 20Hz are more felt than heard. So, don't even consider buying anything with 16Hz - 20kHz - it is basically a marketing gimmick to get your money. You generally assume the wider the range - the better, right? not likely!!! Beware of claims like this. Anything less than 20Hz is simply not worth it..

Is instagram video coming?
Rumours are emerging that Facebook-owned Instagram may reveal a new video service. Facebook is holding a press event at its San Francisco, California, headquarters on 20 June and so far rumours have emerged about a potential news feed to plug the glaring gap left by Google Reader and now video coming to Instagram.

Twitter making it easier for us to use the tweets to monetize services!

What’s App! WOW, I was slow to join the use of this but do like it.

I think Apple is losing the plot is there is any truth to the rumours, and we know that there is often some... Maybe they need to watch their own ads?

China has fastest supercomputer... Again

With this timemachine feature FourSquare could be interesting...
