We and wife married it was in a good international hotel and it cost us around 100k total with honeymoon and it was a excellent venue and setup and we had around 150 people with 10 dishes buffet I think it's the dowry which takes it that high we all should fight against dowry we don't believe in this regards rashid

Hi folks, I got married just over two months ago where the wedding was in London, the reception in Abu Dhabi and then a honeymoon out at bani YAS island. Then my wife has flown back to London last week as well. I'm 29 and Needless to say my entire car fund that I'd saved for my new car no longer exists.Talk about a truly international expensive wedding. From someone who splurged on everything ( I had 1000 pax wedding, females alone) save the money for an amazing honeymoon that is what stays with you. Aslong as you're surrounded by loved ones on your big day that's all that matters. Also to the person who said not to splurge in case of a divorce why notbe positive?

Hi guys. In many countries burden of weddings became so hard, governments made law to limit number of guests. This is the case for some countries. We need to make small weddings popular.
James forgot to mention in the haste to share my story. We manage wedding events for our clients. On average the Russian market spend around 800,000 foraround 150 max guests as their menu items include caviar and the best premium drinks and the Indian Sindhi market spend on Average around 400,000 - 600,000 becauSe they have multiple functions for around 300 guests. It's better to save that money and invest in a sound secure future as opposed to splashing so much cash to keep others happy! Ps; I'm shopping for my centre pieces now at the whole sale market ;)

"A couple today should expect to spend a minimum of between Dh300,000 and Dh500,000 on their wedding day," says Zainab Al Salih, wedding planner and managing director of Carousel. "Based on our experiences of organising mid to high-range weddings, we can say that a realistic budget would be anywhere between Dh1,200 and Dh1,500 per guest."
According to Carousel wedding planners, the trend is moving away from either large-scale or thumbnail weddings, with the average couple inviting approximately 250 guests to their reception. That's already over Dh300,000 for the reception alone.

According to new research by American Express, people expect to fork out $539 per wedding this year, including $167 on travel and $108 on gifts. (Close family members spend an average of $179 on gifts and co-workers cough up $66.

In 2011 alone, the wedding industry was worth $321 billion. And it is only growing bigger with couples worldwide wanting the best there is on the D-Day.
