Never a dull moment when it comes to talking about cars with MotoringME.com.
We were at full strength this week and there was a lot of talk about what the boys are driving and that kicked off with the new Honda CRV.
As usual there was some thumbs up and some thumbs down for things on the road.

It wasn’t supposed to go that way, of course. According to designer Tom Peters, the idea bubbled up from GM’s West Coast Advanced Concept Center. The notion was to mix the attributes of a Camaro and a Blazer into a wide, low, powerful, off-roadish thing referred to as the Bear Claw. Think of it as a GMC Typhoon with off-road tires.

-Alfa 4c getting a refresh, do we get these here?
Alfa Romeo Chief Technical Officer Roberto Fedeli said at a launch event for the Stelvio Quadrifoglio that an updated version of the 4C is coming next year as a 2019 model. "We are coming back to Formula 1," he said, "and we need the 4C to be our halo car," Fedeli told Autocar.
But don't expect to see the refresh bring with it a manual transmission. No future high-performance models from Alfa, Maserati, or even Ferrari will be getting clutch pedals anytime soon, a decision reportedly made after Ferrari spent 10 million euros developing a manual gearbox for the California a few years back only to see exactly two customers choose the option over an automatic.
We'd hazard a guess that Alfa will tone down its carbon-fiber 4C for the next generation. As fun as the little sportscar is on a race track, it's equally jarring to drive on regular roads. A revised suspension and perhaps power steering may be on the menu.

GM and carbon fibre!
Two sources familiar with the company's plans confirmed GM will offer carbon fiber for the beds of the pickups. It would be the largest-scale automotive application of the light-weight, high-strength material, whose long, labor-intensive production process and high cost relative to steel and aluminum have limited its use mostly to luxury vehicles and sports cars.
Carbon fiber, according to one source, is expected to be used as part of a mix of materials for the box of the pickups, including aluminum. The truck beds could mark GM's first use of carbon fiber-reinforced thermoplastic, a product the automaker announced it was co-developing with Japan-based Teijin Ltd. in 2011.
"This is a long-term bet for keeping the pickup truck relevant," said Dave Sullivan, an analyst at AutoPacific. "There is nothing lighter or stronger than carbon fiber that could do duty in a truck."
The carbon fiber bed is expected to be among a significant number of changes in materials for the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups to meet progressively stricter fuel economy regulations. It's also meant for GM to keep or improve its position against Ram and Ford, which shifted its F-series pickups, including the full-size F-150, to light-weight aluminum alloy bodies in 2014.
"Ford has proved people are willing to consider and buy something other than steel," Sullivan said.
