And the notes!

The Last show !

WOW, what a ride I started looking back at all the things we had talked about and the show began with Magnus Nystedt and it was mind boggling!

So, let us do as we have always done and get down to business

Need this!

Google news

Need this!

The end of yahoo messenger!

Last week we spoke about Google Lens and that I couldn’t get the app to download… well sorry Huawei and Sony it is actually already in the google images app and working! Not sure why I would use it it still needs some work and learning but the idea is cool, Bixby seems to work better at the moment.

When apps go down we freak, Apple Maps was one in the US, people may have been using it! So they had to freestyle! Oh Yea.

More AI use! (Why not on android????)
Google wants to use AI to help determine which emails you receive as notifications.
The Gmail app on iOS (it's not yet available on the Android version) now offers users an option to only get notifications for "high priority emails." The feature uses artificial intelligence to determine which messages recipients would deem important and lets them turn off notifications for all the others.

Do we want to know when someone screenshots our stories? YES and  no.

Instagram gave lurkers a small heart attack when it announced earlier this year that it's testing a feature that tells users if someone took a screenshot of their Stories. It was yet another page out of Snapchat's book, but one that was welcome for those who want to know if someone's creeping on them. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on which camp you belong to), the platform has told BuzzFeed News that it's no longer pushing through with its plan. It has officially stopped testing the feature and will no longer show that little pop-up notification, which lets you know that this specific person now has a record of your ephemeral post.

Dan Russell's Search ReSearch blog is my go-to resource for learning new strategies and for ideas on teaching search. His search challenge blog posts always provide a new way to think about search. At the end of May he conducted a survey of his readers. The survey was to determine what readers of Search ReSearch think are the most important search skills and attitudes toward search. The results of the survey were posted last week.

The survey results are noteworthy to me because the readers of Search ReSearch tend to be people who are skilled researchers and are often people who spend time teaching search skills to others. The survey results are divided into four sections. Those sections are most important skills, most important attitudes, how to ask good questions, and other advice. I encourage you to read the full survey results right here. The top tips from the first three categories are copied below.

Most Important Skill
Query formulation (and reformulation)

Most Important Attitude
Persistence

How to Ask Good Questions
Be specific / be clear about what you’re asking

Tools a wanna be web developer should master

Bootstrap

Bootstrap is one of the best ways to put your Javascript, HTML, and CSS skills to work. This massively popular, open source web UI framework features a library of components, plugins, and prototyping tools, allowing you to build responsive sites and apps for the mobile-first era with ease. While it was initially developed for internal use at Twitter, it’s now used by the likes of Walmart, Target, Bloomberg, and the NBA.
SQL
More than ever, the world relies on data to drive business, commerce, entertainment, and other vital industries. And to parse that data and glean insights from it, those industries use SQL. With this language, anyone from data scientists to marketing analysts can create relational databases, manipulate them, and communicate with them. SQL and its various incarnations are used to manage the massive stores of data gathered by YouTube, Twitter, Wikipedia, and Microsoft, just to name a few.
Javascript
If the web were a giant building, JavaScript would be one of its mightiest pillars. This ubiquitous programming language powers most of the interactive content you’ll find on the average web page, and nearly every web browser has a built-in engine dedicated to it. But JavaScript’s reach stretches far beyond websites; it’s frequently implemented in servers, databases, word processors, and PDF software, too.
Python
More straightforward and conservative than its quirky front-end cousin Javascript, Python is an easy starting point for aspiring backend web devs, but can also be put to great use by data analysts, AI specialists, game designers, and other pros. More than any other language, Python is the go-to for big web companies, including Spotify, Dropbox, and Reddit.
Java
Not to be confused with JavaScript, Java is a nimble, “write once, run anywhere” programming language traditionally used for client-server web applications. It also happens to be a vital tool for Android developers, as the platform's SDK uses it as the basis for building Android apps.
C
While it may be old enough to be your grandpa, C still has plenty of life left in it. This general-purpose programming language has roots reaching back to the late sixties but continues to be used successfully in modern operating systems thanks to its ample portability. Many popular programming languages — like Python, Java, C++, etc. — interact with C, lending to its reputation as the lingua franca of web development.

CarClinic June 19, 2018

The CarClinic has become a favorite on Nightline with Glennthatcarguy power walking us through automotive repair.

This was our last show on the Eye and we still had a lot of great questions.

-The boot won’t latch shut is this an easy repair.

-The bar that is pushing up the window of my sonata clanged and the window fell into the door, nice temperatures is this an easy fix.

-what was the oil advice last week? Cap, book or what the workshop wants to put in?

-AC decreases when stopped what does this tell you?

-Seeing exhaust from my RAM it is there all day, any ideas

-AC smell an easy fix?

-Any issues installing oversized tires ?

-How do I know the airbags are working had a serious smash and they did not activate, car was a 2nd hand import from US

-How can I tell if the used GTI Volks I am looking at buying has been driven hard, it is a sweet fast looking machine don’t want to inherit issues

GetFitRadio June 18, 2018

Marcus is a legend at Innerfight.com.

As always way more on the talking list but here it is all the same, the notes.

This is our LAST GetFitRadio show as Nightline and GetFitRadio leave the program grid on DubaiEye

50/50/50 recap what was the hardest part for you?

Q. Marcus my daughter is off to college and I really want her to get into a fitness class any tips on not being pushy but getting the hint to her?

Q. MARCUS I was told that I need to walk more and that this is going to be good for me, maybe as good as jogging, thoughts?

https://www.verywellfit.com/are-15-minute-walks-any-good-3435087?utm_campaign=fitsl&utm_medium=email&utm_source=cn_nl&utm_content=13579380&utm_term=
Walking for 15 minutes, four times a day burns as many calories as walking steadily for an hour.
There may be benefits to combining them into one long walk, but you need to weigh that against what you enjoy doing and what fits into your schedule.
The American Heart Association and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control say in their exercise guideline for healthy adults that you should get 30 minutes of moderately intense exercise, such as brisk walking, five days a week, or a total of 150 minutes spread out over the week. To keep off weight, they say you may need to accumulate even more exercise time over a week. But they also say that your exercise time can be broken up into two to three bouts of exercise of 10 to 15 minutes and there is no prescription that it needs to be 30 minutes or more at a time.

Benefits of Walking Over 45 Minutes for Weight Loss

After walking steadily for approximately 45 minutes, your body has burned off the available sugars (glycogen) it has stored up. Now it needs to begin to burn fat.
Walking is a good way to turn the body on to burning stored fat. If you walk for 30 minutes or less, you are still burning calories, but they are the stored sugar calories (glycogen) rather than having to dip into the stored fat.
Q. Marcus, I know you have said this probably a million times and then one but can you tell me what the best all-round exercises are I should be doing as a daily or 4 times a week routine at home using body weight

Q. Worst advice you ever got while in Rugby or training and how did you react.

Q. Marcus , we have had this one before, is it possible to exercise too much?

Q. How do I know if I am working through an injury or working into an injury? How do we really know when to stop and not just be a quitter?

Q. Marcus what has made you stick with Nightline all these years from coming into the show to us doing it at the gym?

Q. Cross-fit and age is there an upper limit?

Q. Do you think when it comes to physical ability most people underestimate their ability?

Q. You and James spoke about your morning stretch routine can you walk us through it.

Q. tips for better sleep?

Q. Loaded cary is it really the best way to improve grip strength?

For most, the loaded carry is an afterthought, but it truly is the best method I know to train grip, core, and work capacity. These three factors have a broader carryover to every other exercise and performance goal than any other. The grip connects us to our environment. The core connects each piece of our body and, with grip strength, allows us to utilize every part of our body in manipulating the environment.
Finally, work capacity stretches our ability to do work longer. It is very important to carry hard to stay healthy. Despite a far less active and physically demanding upbringing, wrist fractures are 50% more common today in our youth than in the 1950’s. Nearly half of all boys and a third of girls will fracture their wrist during childhood. We are missing out if we continue to dismiss and disrespect the loaded carry’s power.

(not a question as much as a statement) Time management an important skill that fitness helps us understand and activate from starting, stopping and knowing when to move on.

Sitting is killing us!

The Current State Of Sitting

People are sitting far more than ever before.
Conservative estimates, taking into account those who are not office workers, puts the average person sitting for around 6 hours per day.
However, there are some who estimate the average person’s time spent sitting at closer to 12 hours per day.
And it makes perfect sense when you break down an average work day for most people in the West.
Average commute times in the US are about 30 minutes each way. Assuming an 8 hour work day, you’re spending 9 hours of your day mostly sat down already.
We can safely add an hour throughout the day sitting down to eat, bringing our total to around 10 hours.
We’re not even including any leisure time, yet, which for many people involves multiple hours of TV or computer activity.
I think it’s plain to see that for most people, it’s only too easy to hit the 12-hour threshold.

Q. Marcus check out Grease the Groove think it is for real?
