Both laptops feel just as good as they look. Both are sturdy machines without panel gaps or worryingly flexible points on their respective chassis. Of course, the Surface Book’s removable keyboard lends it a versatility of use cases not available to the Apple side of the equation, but there are many out there who find the MacBook Pro’s look among the most attractive on the market.
Apple’s improvements to the keyboard and input methods on the MacBook Pro are a mixed bag. We were a big fan of the old keyboard, but weren’t so hot on the Butterfly key switches found in the new MacBook, which have now made their way to the MacBook Pro. The current Surface Book’s keyboard is less compelling, but not detrimental to the experience, particularly with such a solid touchscreen. The added bulk also gives Microsoft some room to expand the keyboard, although without having spent time with it, we can’t speak to whether that happened or not.
Clearly there’s no obvious choice between the two systems, and the biggest dividing factor is going to be operating system preference. That being said, there are a few reasons you might lean towards the Surface Book with Performance Base, assuming you have no loyalty to MacOS or Windows.
Performance, battery life, and portability are basically too close to call, which makes recommending one system over the other based on that too speculative. Pricing is very similar as well, albeit with the concession that the MacBook Pro 15’s base model offers a slightly better value than the Surface Book with Performance Base in its most basic configuration.
Ultimately, the Surface Book’s touchscreen and form factor versatility offer up a set of use cases that simply aren’t possible with the MacBook Pro. Not everyone is going to make use of them all the time, or maybe even at all, but wouldn’t you rather have the option?

Among the changes are better transitions and intuitive features like the ability to swipe on a message to archive or delete it, depending on which you opt for in the app’s own settings page. Search has been sped up, too, populating faster and giving you quicker suggestions when you spell something wrong.
Perhaps biggest off all here (depending on your predisposition for remorse) is the addition of Undo Send, a momentary reprieve from your own dumb mistakes. Send an email and small, dark gray bar pops up at the bottom. Click “Undo” during the fairly short window and boom, the message doesn’t go through, transforming back into the draft version you were working on before sending. After that, however, you’re on your own.

Linkedin Salary cool
LinkedIn is tapping into its data to bring you deeper insights regarding how much money you should be making. LinkedIn Salary is the business-oriented social network’s new tool that provides detailed information on the factors that impact your salary — from location to experience.
However, there is one catch: If you want to use LinkedIn Salary, you must first tell the platform how much you’re currently earning. LinkedIn promises that your salary data will be encrypted, and will remain separate from your identity and profile.
“Recruiters won’t be able to see your salary data, or access it in any way. In fact, no one will be able to see your salary data,” writes the company in its help section. “When you submit salary data, your input is encrypted with RSA-2048 technology. This helps us ensure that your information is stored securely and remains protected.”
The future of Blackberry
BlackBerry has signed an expanded deal with Ford to install infotainment and security systems in future cars.
The deal includes BlackBerry’s QNX operating system, which Ford has been using through a partnership with Panasonic for a few years, and Certicom security technology. Ford will also use QNX hypervisor and audio processing software.
“The future of the automobile is all about embedded intelligence. I believe our expertise in secure embedded software makes us the preferred technology provider to put the smart in the car,” said John Chen, executive chairman and CEO at BlackBerry.
“Ford is an industry leader and the opportunity to contribute our world-class technology to their products is a privilege. Ford’s expanded application of our software and services illustrates the diverse and broad value we can bring to market.”

Pop-Up Magazine has been experimenting with audio storytelling over the phone since the spring. Every other Sunday, a new story is published, designed to be listened to while doing a particular day-to-day activity, like washing your hands or making a cup of coffee, or thinking about a specific topic.

Pop-Up Magazine's stories are usually only told live on stage. The organisation, whose parent publication is the California Sunday Magazine, runs live journalism events where film-makers, writers, radio producers and other creators tell real, reported stories in front of an audience.
The events started in California but have expanded to reach other cities in the United States, with the current tour taking the team from Los Angeles to Boston.
The Phone Stories project was started as a way to keep the audience engaged in between the events.

Our focus is on creating engaging and relevant literary experiences for students.
