YouTube space launch in Dubai!
1. Diana Baddar, Head of YouTube Partnerships for Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey
Diana’s team is dedicated to supporting the YouTube creator community in the Arab world. She works with the region’s top content creators which include a variety of partners that range from independent creators to major broadcasters.
2. David Ripert, Head of YouTube Spaces for Europe, Middle East, and Africa
David heads the YouTube Spaces program managing Spaces in Berlin, London, Paris and now Dubai. His team’s priority is making sure the Spaces are optimum tools for the creator community in the region.
3. Lowi Sahi, Iraqi Dubai-based YouTube creator
Lowi started making YouTube videos two years ago about his life in Dubai after a fan opened up about a terminal illness that would bar her from ever visiting the city. Today, he's one of the region's most successful creators with more than one-million subscribers on his channel. After his success on YouTube, Lowi went on to start a media production company producing content for client around the GCC.
4. Maha Jaafar, Sudanese Dubai-based YouTube creator
Maha Jaafar is one of MENA's rising YouTube stars. Her channel is comedic celebration of the diversity of the Middle East, with one of her most popular skits includes her playing several characters from different Arab countries. The full-time dentist found fame after a video of her mimicking different Arabic accents went viral two years ago.
5. Omar Farooq, Bahraini YouTube Creator
Omar Farooq crossed the 1.2 million subscribers threshold in less than two years making him a YouTube sensation in MENA. Omar found the right balance between vlogging and storytelling making him one of today's pioneers in content creation in the region. Omar's aim is to inspire and educate and he does that perfectly by taking his viewers on a stimulating journey throughout his videos.

How do we make our tech more accessible! I love the idea of making process more accessible. And here is a DIY project!
In this world, only three things are certain: death, taxes, and the fact that houseguests will eventually ask for your Wi-Fi password. What’s also certain is that, regardless of how simple your password is, you’ll inevitably be bombarded with questions after you recite it. “All lowercase? Any spaces? How do you spell colonel? Why are you so obsessed with KFC?”
Well if you’re sick of going through the same song and dance, and want a more slick and secure way to let your houseguests access your network, we’ve got a simple DIY solution for you: NFC drink coasters that grant guests access with just a tap.
NFC is one of the coolest technologies out there. Short for Near-Field Communication, it’s essentially a method of wireless data transfer that detects devices in close proximity, and then enables them to communicate without the need for an internet or Bluetooth connection. On top of that, NFC tags don’t need batteries to work. They can store small amounts of information passively, so you won’t ever need to recharge your coasters.
Better yet, despite how awesome and techy these coasters are, they’re also incredibly simple to build. You can easily make a whole set of them in under an hour, with minimal materials and expertise. Before you get started though, it’s worth noting that you’ll need an NFC-capable smartphone running Android 5.0 or later in order to execute the steps below. There are ways to achieve the same result with an iPhone, but they are vastly more complex. Sorry iPhone users!

Here’s a quick one – LinkedIn has given its profile views section an update, bringing back some older functionality to provide more insights into how your profile views are tracking.
“This month we refreshed the "Who's Viewed My Profile" page with a new look, and brought back functionalities that provide a quick snapshot into who's visited your profile over time. Whether it’s because they noticed you changed jobs, saw something you posted in their feed, or they generally wanted to know more about your professional life, someone viewing your profile is a great indicator that they could be open to reconnecting.”
As you can see, LinkedIn has brought back the graph showing profile views over time – you can view the same within the mobile app by tapping the drop-down menu at the top of the “Who’s Viewed Your Profile” section.

Ai device uptake!
Device ownership varies by country, but overall, 10% of consumers own an AI device, 32% plan to get one and most (58%) say they have no interest, according to the PwC 2018 Global Consumer Insights Survey, comprising a survey of 22,000 consumers in 27 territories around the world.
In the U.S., AI-device ownership is at 16% with an additional 25% planning to acquire an AI device, such as Amazon Echo or Google Home. Here is the AI-ownership level of the top 10 countries, according to the PwC study:

Microsoft Bug Bounty
Today, Microsoft is announcing the launch of a limited-time bounty program for speculative execution side channel vulnerabilities. This new class of vulnerabilities was disclosed in January 2018 and represented a major advancement in the research in this field. In recognition of that threat environment change, we are launching a bounty program to encourage research into the new class of vulnerability and the mitigations Microsoft has put in place to help mitigate this class of issues.

Speculative execution is truly a new class of vulnerabilities, and we expect that research is already underway exploring new attack methods. To help the community better understand what is currently known amongst the industry, our Security Research & Defense team has published blog with additional information. Tiers 2 and 3 focus on identifying possible bypasses for mitigations that have been added to Windows and Azure to defend against the attacks that have been identified. Tier 4 covers exploitable instances of CVE-2017-5753 or CVE-2017-5715 that may exist.
Speculative execution side channel vulnerabilities require an industry response. To that end, Microsoft will share, under the principles of coordinated vulnerability disclosure, the research disclosed to us under this program so that affected parties can collaborate on solutions to these vulnerabilities. Together with security researchers, we can build a more secure environment for customers.
Google Maps has wheelchair accessible routes now in some cities!
How do you use it?
To use the feature, tap ‘Directions’ and then select the public transport icon. Then tap ‘Options’ and under the ‘Routes’ section you will find ‘wheelchair accessible’ as a new route type. Choosing this option will show you a list of the routes that are wheelchair accessible.
“We’re looking forward to working with additional transit agencies in the coming months to bring more wheelchair accessible routes to Google Maps,” said Google product manager Rio Akasaka.

HEIF is a big deal since it can free up storage space and help you avoid running into your monthly network data cap. But there's more, too: It's actually a flexible data container that can accommodate live photos, bursts of photos, 3D scene data useful for special effects, audio, and more. In other words, it helps photo formats keep pace with today's changing definition of digital photography.
Microsoft Windows team members Dona Sarkar and Brandon LeBlanc announced Windows' HEIF embrace Friday in a blog post about the new version, called build 17623.. But they added a significant caveat, too: "This release we are delivering essential viewing support," they said. "You cannot edit HEIF images in this release."
HEIF isn't a slam dunk, though. It's burdened by complex requirements for patent royalty payments. Web technology developers typically despise patented technology, which is one reason a possible rival photo format from Mozilla, Google, and others is interesting.
As a container, HEIF can actually accommodate multiple compression technologies. When used with HEVC video compression, the resulting files are called HEIC images.
Because HEIF and HEIC support is a rarity today, Apple has been careful to discourage developers from writing software that, for example, will try to post HEIC images on social network sites. Support in Windows and Android though, significantly reduces the risks of HEIC image sharing. That means it's more likely we'll actually benefit from the new technology.
