Victoria Tipper talks Health May 30, 2018

Victoria was in the studio victoria-tipper.com to talk life coaching and gut health.

What a great story Victoria has about walking the walk and generally taking control of her own health that has provoked her down this path of helping others.

In many ways, this hour of chat felt like James was getting a bit of coaching on the path forward.

Click for the Victoria Tipper chat.

Here are the start notes.
Victoria Tipper

Let’s start with your story because this show is all about people
helping themselves and you started that process looking at what was not working in your own life.

Early on though, I recognized that I was in the driving seat of my life and the research
was out there for me to achieve my health and life goals.

I trained extensively to become a fully qualified nutritionist, life coach and fitness
trainer with a degree in genetics and a Masters in Human Nutrition and it transformed
my life. I now use this knowledge to change the lives of people from all over the world,
from all walks of life.
Life is not about being ‘perfect’, it’s about being the best version of yourself. My clients
come to me because they know I consistently keep on top of the latest research, I am
able to break the jargon down into stress-free ‘bite-size’, actionable chunks and I’m by
their side all the way!”

Would love to dive into the link of nutrition, our digestion and general wellbeing.

Let us start by breaking through the jargon.

  1. Importance of getting the food right especially in a time of fast and processed food.

  1. Probiotics and gut health what is this.

3. How do we sustain positive digestive environments?

4. Goal setting and does life coaching really work?

Here we go with an hour of tech wonderment with Andrew the Digigeekster, that is the socials handle.

With the introduction of the European Union's blockbuster new privacy regime, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), it took no time at all for privacy activists to lodge serious complaints about the behavior of Google and Facebook -- and they're promising more within the coming weeks.
The complaints come from a crowdfunded group called None Of Your Business (NOYB), headed up by none other than Facebook nemesis Max Schrems, the Austrian lawyer who has sued the social network on multiple occasions, usually successfully.
It was Schrems whose complaint over Facebook's privacy infractions sunk the Safe Harbor regime, a legal mechanism that allowed US firms to import Europeans' personal data.
Schrems set up NOYB with the aim of lodging well-researched complaints against tech giants that break the GDPR's many terms. The law allows non-profits to do this, on behalf of Europeans whose rights may have been infringed.
NOYB's first salvo, launched as the GDPR came into effect on Friday morning, concerns the widespread practice of insisting that users consent to whatever a service wants to do with their data before they can use that service. The GDPR says this doesn't count as real consent.

Paypal makes it a bit easier across services!

Android Pay users have been able to dip into their PayPal accounts for a little over a year. Now, the money transfer service has partnered with Google to provide a more seamless way to use it across products like Google Play, YouTube and Gmail.
When you add PayPal to your Google Play account, said the former company in a blog post, it will automatically become available as a payment option on all the other Google services that accept payment, including Google Store. While it might raise some privacy concerns, the fact is that you'd have to sign in to use PayPal, anyway, so you might as well enjoy one less step.

Devices Shape Our Social Interactions the Way Cigarettes Did in the Past

There was a time when you were the odd person out if you didn’t have a cigarette in your hand at a social event. Today, if you don’t have a smartphone you’re a pariah. The same health and cultural aspects that have changed the way everyone perceives smoking may get their equivalent if and when people start to realize the downside of being always on.
However, we also have to acknowledge that technology and change are inevitable. Neither a good or bad thing. Decades ago, television viewing consumed people. Screen time was 8 hours of watching programs that came on at a specific time and you had to be planted firmly in your seat to watch a show or your favorite entertainer or catch the news. Newspapers arrived at a certain point in the day. You had a rhythm to things.
That lack of a rhythm may be the worst thing about modern phone screen viewing habits. Just like your workout planning and your meal planning need their own rhythms so does almost every other aspect of your life. Everybody has their own life rhythm and it’s not always consistent - I love binge watching shows because with the pressure of family I can only allocate a certain time every week to watching something I enjoy. That time may be Monday or Saturday. It’s a small window. Binge watching a show has just made it so much easier for me to make effective use of that leisure time. It’s fully in my control, and I appreciate it.

Take Back Your Time Online so You Can Succeed Offline

So, I have decided that I need to think about creating a new rhythm because chaos is rarely a good strategy for success in anything. It seems counterproductive to work online and put this post up online and ask people to do things offline, but that's the challenge we all face. The things we read and watch on Breaking Muscle should have meaning in the real world and they only have an impact if they are helping you reach your goals. That can only happen if you are focused on the moment, free of distraction.
Using your phone, being online, working on computing devices are utilitarian activities. They are a necessity of sorts. But excess isn't. Neither is being popular online. Neither is feeling connected online. Your relationship with yourself and with your loved ones are only real offline. There is an insidious aspect of the social media culture of always wanting to tell a story to attract Likes; there's rarely any context and there's always more than meets the eye. But the eyes are the only thing getting a workout.
It also seems like we are pushing ourselves to be like some "ideal" that has been popularized on social feeds. It's the tyranny of the masses, a kind of rush to the middle of the bell curve where we don't offend or appear anything but acceptable to as wide a group of people as possible.
Everyone is different. Everyone has stuff to deal with that sucks. Everyone can't look like a model wannabe. Your only goals in life should be to find health and happiness. It's that simple, and it doesn't have anything to do with what anyone else thinks or does. It's just you in the real world.

Recovering From Elbow Injury

  1. Always begin with RICE.
  2. Move to range of motion exercises, regaining flexion and extension as needed.
  3. Incorporate exercises that will help build strength and stability to the joint.
If ever in doubt about the injury, check with your physician. Activity should last a lifetime. Better to take care of something early than wait until it becomes a problem. Injuries are a part of life; how the injury is handled, determines how well a successful recovery will occur.

FORD Mustang GT500 2019 is live!

Ford's monster Mustang, the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, has been partly revealed by an official image showing off the top of the sports car. And man, does it look mean. The huge vent looks to be almost half the length of the hood, with a whole series of slats to channel hot air out of the engine bay. The vent is also slightly wider than the racing stripes that run the full length of the car. It's also mounted in what looks like quite a tall hood cowl.

Peugeot 508 is looking the part!
Peugeot Design Director Gilles Vidal, 45, has been crafting the look and feel of the French brand's cars for nearly a decade. His latest creation is the new 508, which he calls a "two-and-a-half-box" fastback. He explained what that means and shared insights on some of the car's key interior features during a chat with Automotive News Europe Correspondent Peter Sigal.
Nice interview!
Describe Peugeot's new design language, as seen in the 3008, 5008 and new 508.
We want to create exciting looking cars with strong personality, but still manage to keep them obvious in terms of visual decoding. We think that when you look at the car from 100 meters, the shape should be super obvious and super simple. When you get closer, say 10 meters, then you start to see more details and gain a second level of understanding. Then you get even closer and you see all the high-tech details in the lights, for example.
Subaru Ascent

The Ascent, set to land in Subaru stores in late June, is the largest model the automaker has ever designed. It is expected to have a sales volume of around 60,000 units per year in the U.S.
When it came to the Ascent's exterior design, Yasunori Kumagai, Ascent project general manager, said that a clear focus for the new nameplate was "to have a sense of scale and presence to exceed the Outback."
The crossover can seat seven or eight occupants, depending on the trim. The base trim comes with a second-row bench seat, while Premium and Limited trims offer optional captain's chairs. The range-topping Touring comes only with captain's chairs.

This was only a matter of time BMW wireless car charging pad
The notion of wirelessly charging your car is no longer a distant prospect... if you have the right ride. Car has heard that BMW will start producing an inductive charging pad for the 530e plug-in hybrid in July, with a release by the end of the summer. Autoblog has confirmed that the pad will be available in the US in addition to the expected European release. It's not certain how much the pad will cost, but one thing's for sure: you can't just walk into the dealership and buy one.
In Europe, where many 530e drivers lease, the charging pad will be limited to a leasing option for the PHEV. And in the US, it'll only be available in California as part of a pilot program. This isn't quite the broad deployment you'd hope for.

Google making it easier to understand their privacy rules!
The revised policy is available here and will take effect on May 25, 2018.
This month, we’re updating our Privacy Policy to make it easier for you to understand what information we collect and why we collect it. We’ve also taken steps to improve our Privacy Checkup and other controls we provide to safeguard your data and protect your privacy.
Nothing is changing about your current settings or how your information is processed. Rather, we’ve improved the way we describe our practices and how we explain the options you have to update, manage, export, and delete your data.
We’re making these updates as new data protection regulations come into effect in the European Union, and we’re taking the opportunity to make improvements for Google users around the world.

We’ve improved the navigation and organization of the policy to make it easier to find what you’re looking for. We’ve also explained our practices in more detail and with clearer language.

Apple Keyboard issues and lawsuit!

Apple has faced some pointed criticism over the butterfly switch keyboards on the 12-inch MacBook and current-generation MacBook Pro. Whether or not you like the tactile feel, they're sensitive to crumbs and dust -- and since you can't just remove individual keys, fixes are both elaborate and (if you're out of warranty) very expensive. To that end, users Kyle Barbaro and Zixua Rao have filed a class action lawsuit against Apple accusing the company of knowingly selling MacBooks with faulty keyboards.
Barbaro and Rao assert that Apple must have known the keyboards were "defective" by the time they reached the public, since complaints started mounting soon after the original 12-inch MacBook launched in 2015. It also accuses Apple of suggesting "self-help remedies" (such as blasting the keyboard with compressed air) that it supposedly knows won't work, and noted that repairs haven't offered permanent solutions.
The lawsuit asks for both damages and refunds for anyone who has paid to replace their MacBook's keyboard.

Google Duplex leaves many questions.
https://www.engadget.com/2018/05/12/recommended-reading-google-assistants-new-bag-of-tricks/
Google has big plans for Assistant, and some of what it showed at I/O this week is equal parts fascinating and worrisome. CNET took a closer look at the so-called Duplex technology that will allow Google Assistant to do things like make phone calls on your behalf. The company has since said it will alert the person on the other end that they're speaking to AI, but for many, questions remain.

Facebook working on a new cryptocurrency!

citing sources familiar with the matter, claims that Facebook users could use the new "digital token" to buy and sell through the platform. The social network is also "exploring other ways" that it could use such a currency.
Mark Zuckerberg announced in January that Facebook planned to "go deeper and study the positive and negative aspects of" new technologies such as cryptocurrency.

How to control your viewing

Google’s  YouTube  is the first streaming app that will actually tell users to stop watching. At its Google I/O conference this week, the company introduced a series of new controls for YouTube that will allow users to set limits on their viewing, and then receive reminders telling them to “take a break.” The feature is rolling out now in the latest version of YouTube’s app, along with others that limit YouTube’s ability to send notifications, and soon, one that gives users an overview of their binge behavior so they can make better-informed decisions about their viewing habits.

This is cool

Turn a normal computer into a gaming machine
The Exklim eX Core houses a 4GB GTX 1050 GPU that’s been factory-overclocked to run at 1680MHz, so it should be able to handle most any AAA game currently in the market. To use, simply hook it up to a laptop via a Thunderbolt 3 port and start taking advantage of your newfound graphics-processing muscle. That’s right, it’s plug and play on both Windows 10 and macOS High Sierra, so there’s no need to fiddle with any additional drivers or software. Because it hooks up via Thunderbolt 3, it draws its power from the computer, eliminating the need to plug it in to a separate power outlet. Do note, this thing will drain the juice off your laptop’s battery at a significant pace, so you’ll probably want to make sure the laptop is plugged in any time you’re playing.
