When you gotta go, you Gotta Go!
A startup is trying to make it simpler to access the most important stuff on your smartphone by serving up apps on a special lock screen that considers factors like where you are, the time of day, and your regular phone usage patterns, and it also tries to make smart decisions about appointments you might want to make with friends.
Called Defumblr, it’s a free Android lock-screen app that was made by a startup called Delvv. The app, which comes out Wednesday, is hardly the first to try to make the smartphone lock screen smarter—an Android app called Cover (which Twitter purchased in 2014), for instance, also figures out what apps you use when and plops them onto the lock screen so you can open them quickly.
But Delvv cofounder and CEO Raefer Gabriel says Defumblr is different from Cover and other lock-screen apps because in addition to paying attention to which apps you open and when, it also analyzes the notifications that come in to your device to find messages from people you know. Then it can use natural language processing to mine those messages for details about events (a proposed coffee date, for instance), and allow you to do things like tap on a notification from a friend that has shown up on the lock screen to add a 3 p.m. coffee with him your calendar.
The point, Gabriel says, is to come up with a better way to organize and prioritize the ever-growing flood of information that comes in to your phone.

Is 4 inches enough?

iPhone Rumours
Would we buy a 4 inch phone? Actually maybe!

It's right around that time of year when iPhone rumors start heating up and 2016 is no exception. Earlier this week, there were rumors floating around that Apple could be working on a 4-inch iPhone 6c, theoretically for those who missed the smaller iPhone screens of old. Mark Gurman of 9to5Mac, however, is debunking that tall tale. Instead, Gurman says that the rumored phone is actually just an upgrade of the existing iPhone 5s that was released way back in 2013 and is in no way an indication of what theiPhone 7 would look like (It would still have its headphone jack, for example). Its launch name? Gurman, who usually has reliable sources, says it could very well be the "iPhone 5se."
Apparently that "se" refers to "special edition" and points to a phone that looks and feels very similar to the 5s, but has all new internals and software that would make it parallel to that of the 6 and 6s. For example, the 5s' chamfered edges would be replaced by the curved glass on the iPhone 6 line, while the cameras would be upgraded to 8-megapixel for the rear and 1.2-megapixel for the front. It'll also apparently have support for larger panoramas, autofocus for video recording, A8 and M8 chips from the iPhone 6, and, of course, an NFC chip so you can use Apple Pay. And it'll supposedly be available in space grey and rose gold as well. Interestingly, Gurman also says that Live Photos will be supported on the 5se, but it won't have 3D Touch -- that's a tech that's only on the latest iPhone 6s.
Uber's appetite for growth knows no limits.
The ride-hailing company is planning to expand its meal delivery service, UberEats, in 10 U.S. cities, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Austin, in an ambitious and delicious bid to take a slice of the on-demand food market.
Right now, UberEats is in a few select cities, including New York, and only offers a selection of one or two gourmet items for lunch every workday.
UberEats, the app, is going much, much bigger, with full menus and fast delivery from "dozens" of local restaurants, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal on Wednesday.
Uber's decision to dive deeper into the food delivery market, after a long period of tests and promotional stunts, is already rattling some of the bigger names in the food-delivery world who may be worried that the fast-moving $62.5 billion startup could, quite literally, eat their lunch.
GrubHub, the billion-dollar publicly traded food delivery company that includes Seamless, saw its stock fall by 5% in trading Thursday to an all-time low following the news as analysts noted that Uber is now working on their turf.

One of my favorite features in Windows Phone is its truly excellent keyboard. It's far more accurate and easy to use than the default iOS keyboard and many Android alternatives, but you've had to use Windows Phone to take advantage of it so far. Microsoft is planning to make its Word Flow keyboard available on other platforms, starting with iOS.
MICROSOFT'S WORD FLOW KEYBOARD IS FULL OF GREAT FEATURES
In an email to some Windows Insider testers, obtained by The Verge, Microsoft is looking for iPhone users to trial the Word Flow keyboard. It's not clear when Word Flow will be released publicly on iOS, but Microsoft is already ready to test it more broadly so it will likely arrive in the coming months. Microsoft's Windows Phone version of Word Flow includes autocorrect, suggestions, gestures, and the ability to swipe letters (like Swype) to type out words.

Facebook Launches a moments for sports!

Facebook this morning launched Sports Stadium, which at first glance appears to be its own version of Twitter's Moments, but specifically for sports. As with Moments, Facebook Stadium is part of the larger platform, but it doesn't have its own button like Moments does. Instead, users can find Facebook Sports Stadium by searching for a game they're interested in.
Along with a live score and game clock in the top banner, Sports Stadium features four tabs for a game in progress:
  • Matchup: A quick glance of what's happening chronologically in real-time at the game, including a scoring summary and most recent plays, which users can like, comment on and share. Videos uploaded about the game will also appear in this tab
  • Friends: Users can see if their Facebook friends are talking about the game or uploading game-related videos or photos. It's a feed of their content in real-time, related to the specific game.
  • Experts: This tab is a series of game-related posts from verified Pages on Facebook (teams, leagues, athletes, journalists and other public figures, sports media, etc.) in real-time.
  • Stats: Deep dive on team stats during the game, from the number of first downs to total yards, passing, rushing, penalties, etc.
Twitter has positioned itself well in the sports world by partnering with leagues as well as networks like ESPN and NBC Sports (for the Olympics), and serving as a sort of online sports bar. With Stadium, its first sports-themed product, Facebook is trying to get in on the action.
"With 650 million sports fans, Facebook is the world's largest stadium," said Steve Kafka, product manager, announcing the new feature. "People already turn to Facebook to celebrate, commiserate and talk trash with their friends and other fans."

Here is what is next from Amazon!
Amazon wants to make it so that you order stuff without even knowing about it. Till you get your credit card statement, that is.
No, it doesn’t mean you’ll have random goods delivered to your door each day. It’ll all be stuff you need because your Dash Replenishment-enabled device put in an order for you when supplies ran low. Think printer ink, water filters, or laundry supplies.
Amazon on Tuesday turned on its first Dash Replenishment-compatible devices, among them select Brother printers and a washer from GE. Other companies working on offering devices with the same functionality include Samsung, Whirlpool, August, Oster, Petnet, Purell, Sutro, and Thync, with Amazon hoping to encourage more to join as the year goes on.
The e-commerce giant’s much-hyped Dash Replenishment Service is a variation of its quick-order Dash button, a small device that lets consumers order everyday items with a single press. Dash Replenishment pushes this convenience to the max by letting compatible smart devices monitor supplies and then automatically place an order when they run low. Manufacturers can incorporate the system’s functionality by simply adding a few lines of code to their smart device.

Sony has a VERY cool throw projector! $800

This small, white box might look like a set-top box, but it’s actually a new laser diode projector from Sony. One that can project an 80-inch screen anywhere you want it to.
The LSX-P1 is part of Sony’s Life Space UX line. It’s about five inches square and three inches thick, and it weighs around two pounds. Despite its small size, Sony managed to pack in a pair of speakers and a lithium battery that can keep the projector powered for around two hours. The LSX-P1 pumps out video and images at 100 lumens, which is decent for a projector this portable.
It’s good for more than just watching movies in dark rooms and putting on a lunchtime presentation in a cramped booth at a restaurant. Check their official press release (Google Translate link) , and you’ll see that Sony thinks that the LSX-P1 is a fantastic way to install some fake windows in your house. It can also double as a really expensive wall clock — that also displays the current weather. Not exactly the most exciting uses, but this is still a very cool, portable unit.
There are other battery-powered projectors out there that output twice as many lumens, but the LSX-P1 offers an excellent mix of high resolution (1366 x 768), decent brightness, and a throw ratio that allows it to project a massive image from around two feet away. It also offers built-in Bluetooth LE and 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi connectivity.
Sony is asking around $800 for it, which is a little on the steep side. Then again, most of the cheaper projectors like this can’t match its 1366 x 768 resolution.

WORLDS 1ST GAMER HOTEL IN AMSTERDAM!
The first hotel dedicated to serving gamers has opened for business in Amsterdam. The Arcade Hotel, as it is named, is located in the city's De Pijp area. Each of its 36 rooms include gratis consoles and games. Guests can also use loaner handhelds for multiplayer adventures in the hotel bar -- there's even a comic book library that you can peruse. And for those who actually do leave their rooms, the hotel also offers a fleet of borrowable bikes (because that's how real Amsterdamians get around).
Owner Daniel Salmanovich told VG 24/7, "[I've remodelled] this hotel into a special place for people who love gaming. I wanted to create a place where travelers and gamers feel like they are staying at a friend's home." Or at least their parents' basement.

New twist on mobile ads, cool!
the fast-changing world of mobile advertising, staples like banner ads, pop-ups and ads disguised as news stories aren't cutting it anymore.
The latest crop of ads reads like novels, mimics the levels of a video game and lets Snoopy hitch a ride on selfies.
Advertisers hope those flashier formats will encourage people to interact with ads on the smartphones and tablets that are dominating their lives. Deeper engagement, they say, tends to make brand names stick in people's minds, translating to higher spending.
Mobile advertising is growing fast, with sales expected to top $100 billion this year for the first time.
That's created opportunity for SnapchatInc., Zynga Inc. and other mobile app companies, which are experimenting with a new wave of ad options. They say consumers want more than a static message; they want ads to be fun and a utility — something they can use and share.
"It's not just buying a Super Bowl ad and a big New York Times spread before Christmas," said Adam Simon, director of strategy at ad firm IPG Media Lab. "There's a lot more strategy and debate about what's the right place to reach your consumers, with a focus on providing them some value."
Venice-based Snapchat lets advertisers create their own Lenses, a type of animation launched in the fall that users select to alter their photos and videos. For instance, one popular Lens on Snapchat lets users overlay a cartoon rainbow on their faces, making it look as if they're vomiting rainbows.
Sponsored Lenses allow advertisers to get in on the fun. Twentieth Century Fox and digital ad agency Avatar Labs recently designed Lens for "The Peanuts Movie" that allowed users to virtually chomp on a waterfall of candy corn while Snoopy danced in the foreground of their photos.
