The notes.

Section 1: Its Almost Summer!

The Heat Is Coming- Puts the fear into everyone!! Plan ahead now before it gets hot. Landlord discussions etc.

AC’s are Weird- Can’t see much of the equipment but they are crucial. Nightmare when they break down.

Recent Arrivals- Many people don’t have experience of AC’s in their home countries. Some trepidation about them.

Technicians Arrive & Disappear Onto the Roof- No real idea about what they do & then the bill is presented!

How Do You Work Out What You Need & What A Good Supplier Looks Like?- Do they warranty their work? Are their technicians qualified? Has the supplier been around for a decent amount of time? Internet? Friends recommendations?

Section 2: Types of AC Within Dubai Homes & Work Required

Chilled Water vs Split Gas- Usually split based on property type

Modern Apartment- chilled water

Villa- Split gas. Variations- Multi-systems, Package Units

Anomalies- Chilled villa’s- Green Communities, Jumeirah Islands, villa complexes attached to residential towers- Mainly Marina. Gas Split Apartments- Older apartments e.g. Satwa, Deira, Karama & International City

Types of AC Maintenance Work Required (Gas Split):

AC Service- Regular mechanical cleaning & checking that should be undertaken 2-3 times per year. Should take 30-45mins per unit.

Cleaning- Indoor filters- All rubbish companies do. This is not a service!!, condenser coils- on the roof, drain pan (disinfect), vents

Electrical & Mechanical Checks- Indoor fan motor, outdoor fan motor, compressor, power cable & isolator, thermostat

It Needs More Gas!- Standard Dubai customer call! Rarely the case. Standard 65psi (double a car tyre!). Only loses gas if a hardware defect. More gas= short-term fix.

Service Review- Noise- fan housing, fan motors, Condition of insulation, temperature of air coming out of the vents, coils & ducts, balanced air flows

Duct Cleaning- Mechanical & chemical cleaning of the ducts leading from the indoor AC unit to the vents. Once every 2 years

Equipment- Specialist kit! Rotobrush vs negative air.

Rotobrush Process- Mechanical- Rotating brush with integrated vacuum. Chemical- Fogging. Camera- Can be used to verify.

Coil Cleaning- Evaporator coil (indoor unit) cleaning. Really difficult but massive benefits! 3-4hrs per unit

Traditional Method- ‘Open Heart Surgery’- Remove drain pan, fan motor, cut out the coil, take outside, power wash with chemicals, WELD BACK IN!!!, re-install all components, re-gas & test.

Our Method- ‘Keyhole Surgery’- Adapted US Equipment designed for another purpose which allows us to clean the coil without removing it from the unit. Scene from Crime Scene Investigators (CSI). Faster, safer, better value.

Cheating- Ash on coil raked with a comb brush- Only cleans (poorly) exterior of coil. Can’t reach behind coil. Very poor!

PART 4

I have put down some artificial timber tiles on my deck outside in the garden. Unfortunately they have lots of white leaching going on and doesn't look very attractive. GetFitRadio February 26, 2018

This was a really personal show.

Of course we had a great conversation about some of the burning fitnes questions of the day.

But this week Marcus also also had a very candid conversation about his injury and recovery.

One thing I love about doing this show is the fact that we get to the bottom of so many of the questions we all have about fitness with a little bit of fun tied in.

How is the recovery?

the main issue with this WOD is grip. From hanging on the bar to the hang cleans to the rower — there’s just no clear way to rest your grip. And, at 20 minutes, most of us will begin to feel it long before the end of the WOD is in sight.
The first place to look for grip relief is with toes-to-bar. Once you begin to tire, you can switch to singles and give your hands a quick shake between reps. With the dumbbells, there’s hardly any way to get relief, except putting the dumbbell down to switch arms. If you do this, however, be sure to just shake your hands out quick and get back to it. As I discuss in the video, transition time is important in this WOD. Last, try your best to manage grip on the rower. It’s not easy, but the quicker you can get to your target calories, the less time you have to spend holding onto the handle.
Another key to success with this WOD is to minimize transition time — set up your workout area for maximum efficiency and the quickest possible transitions. You want to rank as high as possible, and a single second can put you up or down dozens, maybe even hundreds, of places.
Last, you need to find an optimal, sustainable pace

Signs of exercise addiction.

5 Signs of Exercise Addiction

1. Your workouts or training interfere with your relationships. This goes beyond friends or family giving you a little crap about how much you work out. The problem is when working out actually alienates you from those around you. You might consistently skip social activities/events or family obligations in flavor of working out. You might even start to resent anyone who makes you feel guilty about working out or tries to interfere with you getting more. Red flags should go up if the importance you place on training or the amount of time you spend working out is a constant bone of contention or causes your relationships to suffer.
2. Your workouts or training interfere with your responsibilities. If your workouts or training get longer (and I don’t mean like your long runs for marathons training get predictably longer every week) and you still can’t get enough, it’s an issue. And just like other addictions, over time it’ll take more and more exercise to get that same sense of satisfaction that you’re looking for. You may find yourself prioritizing your workouts over work or — worse yet — over sleep making it impossible to perform tasks around the house and causing your work or school performance to suffer. Excessive amounts spent on gym memberships or fitness equipment may make it impossible to pay your other bills.
3. Your workouts or training are prioritized above your health and well-being. Most of us start working out as a means of improving our overall health and well-being. But when your workout is more important to you than actually taking care of yourself — say like when you’re sick, hurt, exhausted, or burnt out — it’s time to reconsider. And while exercise is known to be an effectively strategy to combat feelings of depression, if the only times you feel good are when you’re exercising or immediately after, it’s time to consider whether working out is really helping you or just feeding your addiction. Anytime you find yourself engaging in a behavior that is directly or indirectly causing you physical or emotional harm, it’s time to seek help.
4. Your workouts or training aren’t yielding a higher level of performance. The great paradox with exercise addiction is that performance is not commensurate with the time spent training. An addict favors quantity and when all you care about is getting more workout time in, your performance will suffer. Unlike a well-balanced training program that involves periods of rest and recovery, an addict will try to go hard all the time and will have difficulty scaling back.
5. Your workouts or training are tied to your self-worth. Look, having physique or fitness goals isn’t inherently bad. The problem begins when you attach your self-worth to these goals. An addict loses perspective of their overall worth and tends to only see their worth in terms of the gains she makes (or doesn’t make) in the gym. And when gains slow or cease, self-esteem goes down the drain and it will manifest as self-hatred, disgust, anger, depression or agitation at the thought of missing a workout.

Volks T-Roc

The tipping point for wide acceptance of convertible crossovers is coming, and Volkswagen will soon throw another few thousand pounds on the scales. The People's Car maker launched the standard T-Roc in Europe last November and says it has 40,000 orders on the books already. With VW predicting crossovers will comprise 40 percent of company sales by 2020, the T-Roc cabrio will be one of the 20 crossovers the carmaker plans for sale globally to satiate demand.

Toyota Aygo

Toyota also claims a few mechanical improvements. The company added more sound-absorption materials throughout the car to make it quieter and more refined. It also bumped up the power of the tiny 1.0-liter three-cylinder. It goes to 71 horsepower from 68, but torque dips by 1 pound-foot to 69. This allows it to hit 62 mph in a claimed, wait for it (no, really), 13.8 seconds.

Do we wish we got the Aygo here? Er, not really. It's too small and too slow. Though an all black one would probably be fun for taking to San Diego Comic Con as part of a costume.

BMW smartphone as a car key

exhibiting at MWC is an autonomous i3 electric car that you can summon by phone. Once it arrives, you take a seat in the back and make use of the car’s rear seat entertainment system while the car whisks you away (and indeed, in the highly controlled demo, there is nobody in the driver’s seat). The entertainment system also lets you control some of the vehicle’s functions like a headlight flasher, door locking and unlocking, and — for good effect — the horn. Once you make it to your destination, you get out, lock the doors and the car heads off to find a parking spot for itself.
