The notes.

Hello drive live team, My friend bought a second hand 2012 high-end Korean car, it passed RTA test. He was advised to get it re-inspected also by the agency for more piece of mind. No damage was found. Two weeks later, a crack in the radiator caused the fluid to leak and got the engine overheated beyond possible repair. Despite precaution, the car is non drivable now. The engine and cooling need to be replaced. My friend is frustrated that the crack was not detected in any inspection. Please advise.
Thanks
Hani

The Show Notes.

  • When I go over 80 kmh and until 120kmh I get a wobble of the steering wheel any ideas?
  • The car backfires when I turn it off any idea why.
  • How often should headlights last on a car? I replace one or the other yearly.
  • Saw more cars overheating today when is it safe to fill the rad with new water?
  • What is the difference between a turbocharger and a supercharger does one require less maintenance?
  • What is the difference between torque and BHP
  • Is there a different smell for a transmission and brakes burning or do they smell the same?
  • I have a 2000 lincoln navigator, V8 5.4ltr suv. down shifted to drive but cannot shift back to park. so I cannot turn ignition off or back up any idea what is going on.
  • My car has 70k miles on it and is an automatic trans. It has aftermarket underglow which includes a ton of aftermarket wiring underneath the car. A few months ago, I borrowed my car to a friend for a night out and they ran over a construction barrier and shattered a underglow bulb underneath the car. When this happened, obviously the underglow stopped working completely. But along with this my dash lights and brake lights stopped working. The running lights work on the back but not the break lights. The hazards and blinkers work also, but still no break lights. I'm just wondering what the problem could be?

Here are the show notes.

My Mercedes C200 2014 started making V8 type growling noise every time i accelerate normally and a lot more if I really press on it.
Earlier this noise would only happen if I switched to sport mode and manual modes.
Now it seems the sound just keeps increasing over the pass few months.
Pls help

Also I feel that my Mercedes doesn’t really down shift as much as it should and hence when it’s on 6th gear in auto and I break and slow down then the engine makes that hauling noise typical when you are at low speed at high gear.

Please advise

Q.How often should the tire balance be checked

Q. Can an air suspension easily be converted to traditional?

Q. I am seeing 5w40 20w50 and other oils what do the 2 sets of numbers and letter mean?

Q. I drive a 2010 Ford Explorer with 90,000 Km on the clock. It runs great. However, when I changed the oil I found coolant in it--yet the coolant level is full.
What is going on?

Q. I accidentally poured some windshield-washer fluid into the radiator. My coolant mix is two-thirds water, so will the washer fluid hurt the radiator? Or should the radiator be drained and filled with new coolant?

If fixing your car is maybe the most daunting task you can think of wrapping your mind around then this is the program you NEED to be listening to.

Glenn Power from GT Auto Centre in Dubai is in the studio and this man knows a thing or 2 about automotive repair.

And this week we have a special guest.

Fahed Shahed   The Mechanic Chip Tuning Instagram/facebook/google
05 mechanic

So, we kicked off the show with a chat abut retuning the computer of your car and finished talking about a funny noise in the back of the car.

Not a dull moment on this show.

The Notes.

A full engine remap alters the fuel, boost and torque characteristics of the engine. By controlling the fuel pressure, injected fuel quantity, maximum permissible visible smoke limit, boost pressure from the turbocharger and the torque characteristic.

The Mechanic offers a fully controllable change to the engine characteristics, whilst still operating with full engine feedback control and within all the preset engine sensor limits.

The method in which we perform the remap engine tuning upgrade will remain undetectable by the dealer from your standard diagnostic scan & service.

Of course if your dealer was to compare actual telemetry/settings then they could in theory detect a difference in the file.

Under normal scrutiny and down to the way we install/write/develop our files we go as far as possible to keep the remap invisible!

-I hear a rattle in the back of the car after about 40 minutes of driving and I cannot figure out where it is coming from, any idea if it is the tires, axel????

-How often do we need to change the spark plugs my garage does them every service

-Is there a car you see that tends to not come in for repairs just the regular service would love to know

-When I turn hard left the car screeches is that a belt or something I need to be more worried about

-Oil conditioning additives do we need that when we get an oil change?

So, you own a car and you are feeling that you are being held hostage by the dealer or agency as we call them in the UAE.

Glenn is here to help you feel a little more at ease when it comes to your car repair issues.

Just a random image of 2 cars that don't need a lot of repairs this week and there is absolutely nothing about the Mustang on the show.

The Wrangler on the other hand is a piece of art that at 200,000KM does get a little TLC.

So, the show is simply about fixing your car and we had some great calls about A/C this week and manufacturers milage ratings.

Glenn is a mechanic and he calls it as it is.
