June 17---Minister of Education

Sunday we will be speaking with Dr. Hanif, Minister of Education in the UAE.

We are going to talk about the private/public or Emirati/expat divide in education in the UAE.

How to keep education relevant.

The issue that came up over and over via the callers was accountability of the education system.

Some suggestions were made to the effect that schools in the UAE are being created at such a pace that they really are clueless.

Dr. Hanif suggested that there is growing decentralization within the Ministry of Education allowing for more attention to be paid to areas such as private education.

Maybe education could benefit form a corporate subsidy? How? Labour costs are levied to help support education?

The best question by far was whether or not we have actually lost sight of the objective of education!
