Well there is no shortage of opinion when it comes to the plight of the bachelor in the UAE!
So what is the issue?
It has been suggested that over 50% of the UAE population is SINGLE!
And this 50% of the population, mostly male, is not being treated like everyone else and why not?
Part of the problem is people taking advantage of singles!
Some singles find themselves living in villas, with 30 others, paying up to 800 dirhams a month for bed space!
Others are saying that the problem the UAE is facing with singles is rapid URBANIZATION.
Urbanization can and will create a ghetto system and will see a minority gaining a popular foot hold over others.
Some say that the issue is simply discrimination!
Is the best thing in the case of singles to put them in separate areas to live?
It was suggested that this may be more than a simple moral issue!
What we are dealing with today is RAW CAPITALISM and maybe when all the dust settles the state will step in and solve the inequities that are the product of development!
What do you think?

I think that discrimination is an extension of what is already there. The bachelors need to form a civic body that will ensure that they behave appropriately and not appear as letches etc.. The body should also in turn work on promoting human rights for low income bachelors from South Asia. Dubai cannot run away from the problem by relegating law abiding residents to ghettos. Everyone needs to be integrated into the Dubai dream otherwise the country will face instability.
