Here is a story to make you think hard about the medical profession as it is played out in the UAE today!
According to the Minister of Health in the UAE "we don't have a medical law that defines the responsibilities of the practitioners or the hospitals towards any negligence..."
Uhhhh... so, if you go to the doctor, a person you trust with your life and they get it wrong you are left to the criminal or civil courts and the simple retort that medicine is not an exact thing?
Dr. Sandy Fowler talking about his wife beryl Comar's 6 year odyssey with malpractice and said that doctors when they arrive here know there is no governing body overseeing the profession and that there is no medical practitioners society!
What is needed according to Fowler is protection for both the patient and the practitioner alike!
Last night the story was BEWARE!
Many suggested that if you have the least bit of concern about the medical treatment you are up for go abroad!
Some have said that this is a blip and that things will change soon and fast.
What do you think?
