Measure Brand Lift Across TV and Facebook

Today, we're introducing new measurement solutions that will enable advertisers to see the impact of their ad campaigns on both Facebook and TV, as well as the incremental impact of both platforms when used together.

online radio and podcasts in particular, have shown a growth that simply can’t be ignored. What’s more, according to a separate study from Triton Digital and Edison Research, Americans tuning in to podcasts on a weekly basis has almost doubled since 2013

Hi, James -
With the launch of Apple’s iOS 11, what most don’t realize is that iOS 11 comes with an anti-tracking system that may hurt publishers, especially small ones.
The key to revenue for publishers is targeting advertising to users; however, with iOS 11 first-party cookies that previously lasted forever will now expire within 24 hours. So large publishers that have the same visitors each day and brand loyalty will be affected less but the majority of small publishers will lose the ability to target visitors after merely 24 hours. In addition, third-party cookies (cookies that are redirected to other sites) will no longer be able to be aggregated by publishers. This means, that publishers could effectively lose a huge amount of revenue from Apple users.
If you are interested in speaking to Marfeel, an ad tech company that works with over 200 publishers globally about the impact iOS 11 will make on publishers, please contact me at 610-660-7787.

360 and VR is where the video world is going and this is a specialty area and there are some getting it!

Blend Media, a firm working in the 360˚ video and virtual reality space, has secured £1.5m in funding, bringing its total investment to date to £2.6m.
The funding came from Hambro Perks and I2BF Global Ventures.
Existing backers Paul Cooper, partner at Clarity; and Mark Browning, managing director of ITN productions; also invested.
Other shareholders of Blend Media include Solly Solomou, CEO and co-founder of the LADBible Group; and Ben Donovan, co-founder and former president of Disney-owned Maker Studios.
The funding will help Blend Media develop its platform and expand its technical, sales and marketing teams.

Dynamic storytelling is here and oh it is VR enabled!
The next iteration of immersive media is here. Today’s emerging technologies are capable of producing vibrant 3-D models that give audiences an even greater sense of depth and texture than we’ve experienced with 360-degree videos.
Viewers will soon be able to not only “walk” through virtual spaces, but also touch 3-D objects and interact with others — immersing audiences deeper into stories.
To understand what all this means for media, we talked with dozens of industry leaders in journalism, technology, academia and entrepreneurship. Their insights provided the foundation for this report, along with a study we conducted with neuroscientists at Multimer that measured participants’ engagement and brain activity when consuming immersive media content.

After reading this report, you will know:
1. A new reporting approach called dynamic storytelling that puts the news consumer at the center of the process.
2. Best practices in virtual reality journalism and the tools used, including the nascent technology of “volumetric capture” as well as computer-generated imagery (CGI).
3. Considerations when constructing a news story, including audience participation, the immersive technologies available and the various perspectives presented.
4. Key challenges in immersive storytelling and ways of mitigating those concerns. These include ethics and standards, newsroom workflows, technology deployment, skills and user adoption.
5. Data-driven strategies to produce and distribute immersive media across devices.

IQBuds combine a Bluetooth headset and noise-cancelling headphones in sleek earbuds that enhance your natural hearing.

Superior Intelligent Noise Control, or SINC, is the customizable technology that lets you create a custom hearing experience tailored to your needs. It can amplify or minimize sound to help you hear better in situations you might typically struggle in—like hearing a conversation in a noisy restaurant or listening to music without totally blocking out surrounding sounds.

Customize your preferences and surroundings in the app. SINC then applies a frequency filter to the sounds you do and don’t want to hear.

Co-Founders Justin Miller and David Cannington were working on industrial-strength hearing headsets for gas and oil workers. When many of their testers expressed interest in a sleeker everyday version, they listened.

The Chromium team is working on browsing the web in VR with a Daydream View headset, and the first set of features is available to try out in Chrome 61. So far this allows users to view and interact with any website in VR, follow links between pages, and move between 2D and immersive viewing for sites that support WebVR.

Users can give this a try today by navigating to any site in Chrome and then simply putting the phone into their Daydream View headset.

This is just the beginning for web browsing in VR so stay tuned, there’s more to come!

Digital is the future! Who is watching traditional TV?
Almost half of adults 22 to 45 years old are watching absolutely no content on traditional TV platforms, according to a new study by Omnicom Media Group agency Hearts & Science.
Instead, this 47% is consuming TV content and video on streaming platforms that didn't exist as recently as the series premiere of CBS's "NCIS." That doesn't mean they aren't watching TV content or even that they aren't seeing ads. They're just consuming it in places where ad models vary, audiences are fragmented and measurement is harder.
"It's pretty scary," says Hearts & Science CEO Scott Hagedorn, referring to the group as "unreachable" by marketers. "We are not reaching young audiences effectively, just over-indexing on older viewers on TV."
TV viewing for decades was described by Nielsen, but the proliferation of new platforms, viewing habits, devices and ad models has complicated everything considerably. While Nielsen has the technology to measure many of these non-traditional platforms, roll-out has been hampered by the heavy lift it requires from TV networks and other content providers.
Less than one-third of the TV and video watched by millennials and Gen Xers is accounted for by traditional measurements, according to the study, which included a survey of about 1,500 people. The rest is being watched in apps on smartphones and streaming devices like Roku and Apple TV.
Marketers have to think creatively not only to reach millennials and Gen Xers but also to make the most of it when they do, according to Hagedorn. "We are headed toward a creative wake-up call," he says. "If most of this content is being consumed in-app, we need to think more about the utility of advertising here."

Andre

-Practice vs training what is it the podcast #357

-gymnastics? Why is that something we practice and how does it help our fitness?

-cleaning up your sweat… thoughts it is a gym yet people leave the puddle.

-Sleep, so as people know from this show i have upped my sleep by 1 hr and it is an amazing change, I am not tired all the time! BUT sleep and sleep hygiene has a lot to think about and we often get it wrong!

1)   Oversleeping on Weekends

Most people look forward to the weekend because they can sleep longer. As it turns out, sleeping a few extra hours during the weekend is unhealthy, especially if you have a regular sleeping regimen throughout the week.
A study conducted by researchers at the University of Arizona reported that changing sleeping habits during the weekend disrupts the normal sleep patterns.
After analyzing 984 adults aged 22-60 years, the researchers found a link between changing sleep routines and ailments like depression and heart disease.
The habit causes a social jet lag, a phrase used to describe the difference between the interval when the body wants to take a nap and when it goes to sleep.
The study revealed that every hour of social jet lag during the week increased an individual’s likelihood of suffering heart disease by 11%. So, if you are used to sleeping at 10 p.m. and waking up at 6 a.m. during the week, you should stick to this routine during the weekend also.

2)   Surfing Before Bedtime

Phones, tablets, and other electronic devices have become an integral part of our lives. In fact, for most of the people, the phone is the first thing they check after waking up and the last thing they scroll before sleeping.
Some people complain of mild hip pain from mattress as they often adopt bad sleeping postures when using the gadgets.
However, exposure to the blue and white light emitted by these gadgets before sleep inhibits the production of melatonin, a hormone that causes the body to sleep.
As such, the body takes longer to fall asleep, and there is a disruption in the function of other organs. Additionally, this distortion of the circadian rhythm leaves your brain distracted and impairs memory the next day.
Furthermore, melatonin levels that are caused by the blue light increase the risk of suffering depression, poor eyesight, breast, high blood pressure, prostate cancer, and obesity.
In fact, researchers are now investigating whether blue light leads to the development of cataracts. Long-term effects of continued exposure to the blue light leads to the accumulation of neurotoxins, which make it harder to sleep.

3)   Drinking Alcohol

Most people tend to guzzle a glass of wine or other alcohol-laced drinks before retiring to bed. Of course, taking red wine is healthy for the heart, but it accounts for unhealthy sleep habits.
Though alcohol allows healthy individuals to fall into deep sleep faster, it minimizes the rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. The more glasses of wine or alcohol you take, the more pronounced the effects.
Rapid eye movement sleep occurs ninety minutes after the body falls asleep. During this stage people, dream and the body goes to a restorative mode.
This distortion in the REM sleep leads to poor concentration, daytime drowsiness, and robs you of the required sleep.
Some people use alcohol as a sleeping aid, which results in its dependence. Relying on alcohol to fall asleep increases the likelihood of talking during sleep, sleepwalking, and memory interference.

4)   Taking Naps during the Day

Humans are designed to have a monophasic sleeping pattern- one night’s sleep of seven to nine hours.
While daytime naps help relieve drowsiness and improve performance, they often distort the normal sleeping schedule. It is especially the case when they become frequent and at odd hours of the day.
Experts recommend napping between noon and 3 p.m. as it coincides with the regular circadian rhythm.
Napping any other time, say in the morning or late in the afternoon deprives your body of sleep during the night. The naps should also not be longer than twenty minutes.
Some people with rigid schedules, however, prefer taking regular naps during the day; say six to eight naps that each last for twenty minutes.
Such sleep cycles are also referred to as Uberman sleeping routines and can be detrimental to one’s health. While the body gets to sleep for two hours in total, the cycle creates an inflexible waking and napping cycle.

5)   Not Unwinding before Bed Time

Stress becomes cumulative during the day, making it difficult to find sleep at night. As such, individuals should unwind before going to sleep to help the brain relax. It shifts your thoughts from work and rids of issues that may be causing anxiety.
The best way to unwind involves writing all the things you need to do the following day. It helps empty the mind, and the brain does not have to linger on those issues during the night.

-Getting Active!

The Most Physically And Mentally Unhealthy Generation In History

There are few parenting concepts more ubiquitous than the desire to “give my kids the life I didn’t have.” We hear this statement and remark, “what a great dad he must be!” This sentiment is an automatic rapport-builder between parents. It has become the assumed goal of parenting: to provide abundance and protect from pain.
Despite this, we have managed to create the most mentally and physically unhealthy generation in human history. One in five has a mental disorder. There’s been a 37% increase in teen depression and a 200% increase in suicides for 10-14 year olds. Physical health is on a similar decline. One study found that American teens averaged the same activity level as 60-year-olds. Since 1970, we’ve seen obesity triple in youth ages 6-19.
The same parenting paradigm that places the comfort and happiness of the children at the center of the universe is a fundamental, underlying cause of all of these issues. The parenting pendulum has shifted drastically from an emphasis on teaching values, skills, and work ethic to create and capable citizens, to an obsession with providing to excess and protecting from any pain.

Interesting how to exercise without exercising!

What’s New for 2018?

Only a few changes were made to the Soul for 2018. The base Soul’s Convenience package now gets an upgraded UVO3 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus automatic climate control. Midrange Soul Plus models now get the UVO3 system as standard. Kia will offer a limited run of Soul Plus models equipped with last year’s Plus Primo package, which adds adaptive cruise control, automated emergency braking, a panoramic sunroof, and leather seats with heat and ventilation. That package will then be replaced with the Primo Lit package, which includes the contents of the Plus Primo package with more active safety features. Additional features include LED exterior lighting with high-intensity-discharge headlamps, heated rear seats and steering wheel, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and more. Finally, a new, highly apropos color joins the palette: Wild Orange.
