Here are the show notes.

My Mercedes C200 2014 started making V8 type growling noise every time i accelerate normally and a lot more if I really press on it.
Earlier this noise would only happen if I switched to sport mode and manual modes.
Now it seems the sound just keeps increasing over the pass few months.
Pls help

Also I feel that my Mercedes doesn’t really down shift as much as it should and hence when it’s on 6th gear in auto and I break and slow down then the engine makes that hauling noise typical when you are at low speed at high gear.

Please advise

Q.How often should the tire balance be checked

Q. Can an air suspension easily be converted to traditional?

Q. I am seeing 5w40 20w50 and other oils what do the 2 sets of numbers and letter mean?

Q. I drive a 2010 Ford Explorer with 90,000 Km on the clock. It runs great. However, when I changed the oil I found coolant in it--yet the coolant level is full.
What is going on?

Q. I accidentally poured some windshield-washer fluid into the radiator. My coolant mix is two-thirds water, so will the washer fluid hurt the radiator? Or should the radiator be drained and filled with new coolant?

-Achillies injury/calf  2 weeks no running! Urrrrr, elliptical may be ok and that just means other exercises
-doc/osteo said the best thing I did was stop and get to him ASAP!

What you can learn from an injury

-Q Marcus my trainer tells me I need to do exercises I don’t really care for because they give good balance is this true?

-Q what is the core exactly?

-Q I want to build upper body muscle do I need to invest a fortune or can the equipment I might need at home be affordable?

-Marcus can you walk us through the conversations you have about strength vs bulking up?

-I was reading about progression and regression being at the core of good training regimes, what is that all about?

Progressions and regressions are the building blocks of long term athletic development. It is vital for a coach to adjust the training protocol through exercise selection in order to allow the athlete to slowly and properly progress their abilities both in the strength room and on the field.
Progressions and regressions can help to develop balance, coordination, mobility and sport specific abilities. As an athlete develops their strength, in eccentric, isometric and concentric ranges of motion, balance and coordination will intrinsically be developed, especially when starting from easy to more challenging; such as progressing from a split squat, to a rear foot elevated split squat, to a dynamic lunge variation.
Once these abilities are developed, an athlete can be progressed from a more GPP (General Physical Preparedness) goal, to a more specialized SPP (Specific Physical Preparedness) goal. For younger athletes, many parents of athletes request that a coach train sport specific movements with their children, but they fail to understand that in order for sport-specific movements to benefit them, they require a base level of strength, power, mobility, and motor control.

Q. Marcus thoughts on training breathing!

Q. Marcus can you walk us through the functional benefits of being upside down

GMC Desert Fox: celebrating 40 years in the Middle East
20.11.2017
Dubai– GMC’s much loved Desert Fox special edition truck is celebrating its fortieth birthday this year, and to mark this anniversary a classic example appeared as one of the stars at this year’s Dubai International Motor Show. Bringing a significant dose of nostalgia to the event, the Desert Fox Jimmy model that made a special appearance on the GMC stand is particularly unique, having spent its entire working life in Saudi Arabia since first hitting the road in 1979.

-Tesla Sports Car, Tesla Truck! Tesla SUV coming?

Toyota on Electric cars

Battery-powered cars are not ready for mass production yet, the chairman of Japan's Toyota Motor Corp told a German magazine, adding that he did not see U.S. electric vehicle pioneer Tesla as a role model.

"Battery-powered cars with a long range are very expensive and it takes a long time to charge them," Takeshi Uchiyamada was quoted as saying by Der Spiegel. "Such cars do not fit in our program."

Toyota in September established a venture to develop electric vehicle technology with partner Mazda, seeking to catch up with rivals in an increasingly frenetic race to produce more battery-powered cars. Both automakers are somewhat behind their peers, with neither having a fully electric passenger car on the market yet. This contrasts with Tesla, which late on Thursday unveiled an electric heavy duty truck as well as a new roadster.

"Tesla is not our enemy and not our role model," Uchiyamada said. "I think it's the German manufacturers that rather see Tesla as a competitor."

BMW and Mercedes are betting they can mass produce new electric cars based on conventional vehicles, defying skeptics who say they will need more radical designs to head off the threat from Tesla and other start-up carmakers.

Uchiyamada said that Toyota was working on a new type of solid-state battery that is able to store more power and can be recharged much more quickly than current types.

"This technology will be a big development step. But that will still take time. We expect mass production in four to five years."

On Friday, Toyota and Suzuki Motor Corp said they had agreed to cooperate in selling electric vehicles in India from around 2020, aiming to give each other a leg up in emerging markets and in low-emission technology. (Reporting by Christoph Steitz; Editing by Hugh Lawson)

We don’t talk much about SEAT!

SEAT has pulled the wraps off a ‘Guardian Angel’ safety car at the Smart City Expo in Barcelona, Spain.
The Leon ‘Cristobal’ is named after St Christopher (San Cristobal in Spanish), the patron saint of travellers. The concept car is billed as the safest car in the history of the SEAT brand, and features a host of digital technologies that are designed to make life safer for drivers and passengers.

The car has 19 technologically innovative safety features, which include Drive-lock, A built-in breathalyser that prevents the car from starting if a positive reading is given, Eye Tracker, which can detect from the driver’s eyelids if they are about to fall asleep at the wheel, Drive-coach – a voice assistant that enables safety warnings to be personalised to the driver’s individual settings, such as excessive speed warnings, a Display-mirror, which uses a rear camera for better all-round vision, allowing the driver to still see behind even if the boot is full, a Black box image and data recorder that sends footage to a selected smartphone in the event of an accident and SEAT’s pioneering Mentor app, which enables parents to control the vehicle’s speed and monitor its location when their children are driving it. Combined, the Cristobal can be driven in Guardian Angel mode, where all of the 19 safety technologies work concurrently. The safety features not only protect the car and its occupants, but could also reduce insurance premiums.

Are you Happy?

What makes you happy?

What do you need to be happier?

Happiness is a major part of the UAE’s National Agenda

Happiness and National Agenda

https://government.ae/en/about-the-uae/the-uae-government/government-of-future/happiness

Under the pillar of Cohesive Society and Preserved Identity of National Agenda, the UAE Government aims to make the country amongst the top five happiest countries in the world by 2021. Happiness Index, which is a composite indicator that measures an individual's assessment of his standards of living and satisfaction by using a survey is a key performance indicator in this regard.

National Programme for Happiness and Positivity

On 7 March 2016, H. H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai reviewed National Programme for Happiness and Positivity presented by Sheikha Ohood.
The programme sets government policies, programmes and services that could promote virtues of positive lifestyle in the community and a plan for the development of a happiness index to measure people's satisfaction.
The programme covers three areas:
  1. inclusion of happiness in the policies, programmes and services of all government bodies and at work
  2. promotion of positivity and happiness as a lifestyle in the community
  3. development of benchmarks and tools to measure happiness.
The programme will include Emiratis as well as expatriate residents and visitors. It seeks to encourage government and private sectors to launch, recommend and adopt initiatives in that regard.
The plan will also include initiatives for publishing scientific and cultural contents, books on happiness, and encouragement of reading about the importance of positivity and happiness as a way of an integrated lifestyle.

The UAE as per World Happiness Report

UN World Happiness report 2017
According to UN World Happiness Report 2017, the UAE came first in the Arab world for the third consecutive year and ranked 21st as the happiest globally, advancing eight ranks.
The UAE would, however, rank 12th globally if only UAE nationals were taken into account, as the 2017 report included a separate table of results for nationals and non-nationals in some Gulf countries with varying scores.
UAE also ranked first globally regarding the satisfaction of residents from other countries.
World Happiness report 2016
report, which maps happiness on the parameters of GDP per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom to make life choices, generosity and perceptions of corruption.
As per World Happiness Report 2016, published by Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), a global initiative for the United Nations, the UAE was ranked 28th globally and 1st amongst Arab countries.
It was placed ahead of some of other advanced countries like France (at 32nd rank), Spain (at 37th rank) and Italy (at 50th rank). The report recognises that the UAE is amongst the four countries in the world that have a Minister of Happiness in their Cabinet.
The UAE has maintained its leading position in the Arab World since the report was launched four years ago; thus, realising its remarkable achievements in the political, economic, social, educational, health, tourism and environmental fields.

A little emoji fun!
Remember what your Google Drive looked like when you first started using it? It was neat, organized, and free of clutter. As you began to use Drive more frequently, you probably started creating folders and perhaps you are now looking for a way to organize them. In addition to color coding your files, you can add emojis and other symbols to your folders to help you identify them quickly and easily.

The first thing you need to do is open your Drive and identify a folder that you would like to add a symbol or emoji to. Make sure the symbol you select is something that helps you remember the contents of the folder. Maybe you use a snowflake for activities that pertain to winter or a test tube for chemistry lessons. All that matters is that your icon makes sense to you. Once you have selected your folder, navigate to one of the sites below, select the symbol you want to use, copy it, edit the name of the folder then paste the icon into the box where the folder name appears.

iPhone X
Apple is working on a software fix for a mystery bug that causes the iPhone X's display to become unresponsive in cold weather.
The fix is coming in response to complaints that the screen doesn't detect touches when the device is in cold weather.
One user on Reddit who claimed to be using an iPhone X in -4F (-20C) temperatures reported that the screen only recognized 20 percent of touches, but that locking and then unlocking the screen fixed the problem.
Another user from Minneapolis, where it was 7F (-14C), reported similar issues and confirmed that locking and unlocking the phone solved the issue.
"Key taps take multiple taps to register and it was pretty annoying. I'll try the lock-unlock trick to see if it works," the user wrote.
Other users noticed that the issue arises when moving from an indoor environment to a cold outdoor environment.
Apple has acknowledged the issue and says it surfaces when the iPhone X faces a rapid change in temperature. The software update suggests the problem is not an issue with the iPhone X's OLED display.

Apps using our microphones to spy? Like FB? Really?
The theory that Facebook is spying on us using the microphones in our devices is practically ancient in technological history.
Most readers can say they have either heard stories or encountered advertisements that were eerily pertinent to a niche topic they were discussing with a friend – for example, a menstrual pain relief device or Minnie Mouse.
The tech podcast Reply All recently released an entire episode dedicated to finding out whether the giant was indeed using the microphones in our devices to gather nuggets of data about us.
Host PJ Vogt put the question to Twitter and was flooded with anecdotal responses from people who firmly believed the site was listening in.
Reply All is taking phone calls today. Call us if you believe that Facebook uses your mic to spy on you for ad reasons. 3PM ET. 917-267-5180
I was talking to my friend about how I need a phone holder in the bathroom bcause our counter is small and I got this ad an hour later pic.twitter.com/0GB5NH2kkc

During the episode, co-host Alex Goldman tried to convince people who believed in the microphone theory that there were other ways the company could have harvested that data, but he was unable to do so.
In response to the episode, in which Facebook flatly denied it uses the microphone for surveillance purposes, Rob Goldman of Facebook spoke out.

Phishing is this something you are thinking about? You should it may be bigger than hacking!
googleidtheft.png
Google's research sets out hijacking victims' email providers and geographic locations.
Image: Google
Google has released the results of a year-long investigation into Gmail account hijacking, which finds that phishing is far riskier for users than data breaches, because of the additional information phishers collect.
Hardly a week goes by without a new data breach being discovered, exposing victims to account hijacking if they used the same username and password on multiple online accounts.
While data breaches are bad news for internet users, Google's study finds that phishing is a much more dangerous threat to its users in terms of account hijacking.
In partnership with the University of California Berkeley, Google pointed its web crawlers at public hacker forums and paste sites to look for potential credential leaks. They also accessed several private hacker forums.
The blackhat search turned up 1.9 billion credentials exposed by data breaches affecting users of MySpace, Adobe, LinkedIn, Dropbox and several dating sites. The vast majority of the credentials found were being traded on private forums.
Despite the huge numbers, only seven percent of credentials exposed in data breaches match the password currently being used by its billion Gmail users, whereas a quarter of 3.8 million credentials exposed in phishing attacks match the current Google password.
The study finds that victims of phishing are 400 times more likely to have their account hijacked than a random Google user, a figure that falls to 10 times for victims of a data breach. The difference is due to the type of information that so-called phishing kits collect.
Phishing kits contain prepackaged fake login pages for popular and valuable sites, such as Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, and online banking. They're often uploaded to compromised websites, and automatically email captured credentials to the attacker's account.
Phishing kits enable a higher rate of account hijacking because they capture the same details that Google uses in its risk assessment when users login, such as victim's geolocation, secret questions, phone numbers, and device identifiers.
The researchers find that 83 percent of 10,000 phishing kits collect victims' geolocation, while 18 percent collect phone numbers. By comparison, fewer than 0.1 percent of keyloggers collect phone details and secret questions.
The study finds that 41 percent of phishing kit users are from Nigeria based on the geolocation of the last sign-in to a Gmail account used to receive stolen credentials. The next biggest group is US phishing-kit users, who account for 11 percent.
Interestingly, the researchers found that 72 percent of the phishing kits use a Gmail account to send captured credentials to the attacker. By comparison, only 6.8 percent used Yahoo, the second most popular service for phishing-kit operators. The phishing kits sent were sending 234,887 potentially valid credentials every week.
Gmail users also represent the largest group of phishing victims, accounting for 27 percent of the total in the study. Yahoo phishing victims follow at 12 percent. However, Yahoo and Hotmail users are the largest group of leaked credential victims, both representing 19 percent, followed by Gmail at 12 percent.

They also found most victims of phishing were from the US, whereas most victims of keyloggers were from Brazil.
