Here is fastforward with Triplew!
Paul Kelly from Triplew.me brings some great music to the studio.
Here are the show notes.
BEDROOM JAM 2012.
http://redbullbedroomjam.me/
Red Bull Bedroom Jam is a project that helps young bands get out of the bedroom and start making records! Not anywhere but at one of the Red Bull Studio in Madrid.
Talk about the M.E.-wide competition - 117 entries from all over the region, 8 made it through to the second round - 7 are/were from Egypt! Although not surprising due to 80mn people!
Top 8:
Winners: Portrait Avenue from Egypt (experimental rock)
BIO:
It all started with a jam....
In 2008, the first two members of the band, Ragy Haddad(Guitarist) and Wadie Nader(Drummer), met and found a musical chemistry as they jammed, so they decided to form "the band"..later on that year, Emad Adel joined the band as its bassist as previously agreed upon with Ragy.
6 months after that collaboration of guitar, bass and drums, they felt they still needed mor
e notes to fill the gaps between their lines, so they all agreed that no one could do it better than Tarek Hussein as the band's keyboardist.
By the end of 2009, they felt like they needed a vocalist to input more energy to the music, Ragy had seen Belal Moh. Ali a couple of times at the studio he used to jam at, he contacted him, and they were surprised he had such harmony with their music even though he was originally a heavy metal vocalist.
Though the vocals and instruments were present, they still needed some flavor to their music, and that's when Ahmed Nasser(the violinist) and Shady Samir(the saxophonist) joined them, only then.... they were portraying the sounds of the avenue.
Their gigs started with a mini concert at Wadie's house, then a Halloween party at Montreal Club, the following year they participated in the Egyptians' Got Talent Battle Of The Bands which they eventually won. And last but not least they were the main event in "Phases" that took place in AAST in 2012.

- Adonis (Lebanon) - https://www.facebook.com/adonis.band.lebanon - cool Arabic rock from Lebanon. "If the rambling back alleys, low-slung electricity cables and small, dusty, bustling neighborhoods of Beirut had a soundtrack, this would be it. Take Adonis by the hand and they'll trace the lines of the city with you." Time Out Beirut.
- The inspiration of their name comes from the small town of Adonis in Mount Lebanon. For lead singer Anthony Khoury, the dullness of this town gave him inspiration for the songs that he wrote. Or as he describes it:
“I started finding magic in the smallest and most fleeting of details, like a street light under which I had my first kiss, or a rooftop on which my childhood friends and I used to hang out on hot summer nights, or a sidewalk or a water tank or or or…. These things and places became solid anchors around which stories, memories, characters are built and given life. The name Adonis evokes in our local imagery the small town as much as the myth, the dull as much as the magical. And it’s precisely in the flickering boundary between these two, the dull and the magical, the ordinary and the poetic, the common and the sacred, that our music is weaved.”

The Regional Music Beat!
This is just great radio!
BAND 1
The Relocators
The Relocators are a Bahraini alternative, rock and blues trio. The band features drummer Ali Al-Qaseer, vocalist and guitarist Faisal Amin and Romeriko Canlas on bass. In a very short period of time, they have become one of Bahrain's favorite exciting live bands. The band members have individually had a fair amount of TV and radio playtime. They have also opened for international names such as 'the Heavy' and 'Legends Of Ska'. Their music is usually uptempo and energetic, carved with vintage guitar tones, bluesy vocals and interesting bass lines.
Song - Love’s Never Running Away
BAND 2 -
DJ Wriggly Scott feat. Deeb - Re7la (Pronounced Rehla) - fade at 3:15
Wriggly Scott aka DJ Solo (born Neil Andrew) is a Dubai-based hip hop DJ and producer originally from High Wycombe. Scott was raised with music all around him, both his mother and sister were piano teachers. He discovered hip hop at an early age after a brief stint playing the piano and guitar, then took up DJing at the age of 16 which led to stints with local pirate stations and live performances with White Noise and the Scratch Perverts.
After a move to Dubai in 2004, he quickly became part of the burgeoning music scene helping to establish the first ever internet radio station in the U.A.E., while also hosting the first underground hip hop show on FM radio. Artists he has shared the stage with in Dubai include Quantic, Florian Keller, Jazzy Jeff, Jazzie B, DJ Format, DJ Woody, Aaron LaCrate, the Kyoto Jazz Massive, Phil Asher and Cash Money to name a few.
Along with fellow producer Solphonic, and MCs Jibberish and Toofless (now known as Feras Ibrahim), Scott founded Diligent Thought. Their conscious lyrics and infectious beats quickly gained them popularity amongst fans of real hip hop, something which is hard to come by nowadays. After their split Scott continued to pursue his production, enjoying the newly found freedom that being an individual artist provides by experimenting with various sounds under various aliases.
May 2011 saw his first commercial release hit the stores on Dented Records. ‘Who Is Wriggly Scott?’

Song: Re7la (ReHla)
Silverlake (BH)
Silverlake (Bahrain) are somewhat of an oddity in the local music scene. Where every other band seemed to be making their noise in heavy metal, rap/hip-hop or latin music, the quartet broke into new grounds by emerging as new-wave, alternative pop rock band, infusing the popular sounds of the likes of Coldplay and Travis with the authentic and classic rock sounds of Pink Floyd. The result is mesmerizing.
The band was formed in 2008 and had their very first gig opening for Ala Ghawas at Elham's Live Art 08. They started playing more gigs and writing their own material and they blew the crowds away when they performed at the Elham Arts Festival music concert in May 2009 at the Cultural Hall. Not content with that, they also headlined the Reflux festival, Bahrain’s first heavy and alternative rock music festival at the Bahrain International Circuit a few months later.
As one of the youngest bands around, their musical maturity is refreshing and their willingness to push themselves to create accessible alternative rock tunes must be admired.
Song: The Getaway - http://redbullbedroomjam.me/band/silverlake/
Simplexity (EG) - #1 on BUZZ CHART FOR RBBJME
SimpleXity is a progressive rock/metal band based in Cairo, Egypt. Initially being the brainchild of guitarist Omar El-Deeb and keyboardist Hatem Ghaleb, bassist Noor Ayman and drummer Aly Hassab El Naby completed the line-up around November 2007. Each member of the band enjoys different genres of music ranging from Classical, jazz, blues, rock n roll, punk, heavy metal, hard rock, thrash, death metal with all their sub-genres. The presence of such versatile influences created the band's original sound.
In April 2010, keyboardist Ahmed Adel replaced Hatem Ghaleb after Hatem decided to leave..
The band has enjoyed wide exposure through different festivals, has won several competitions, and gained more and more positive feedback through the past few years and looks forward to releasing new material.
Track: Luminosity

Go to who?
When you have an issue who are you going to?
Family seems to be out.
Friends are not that reliable.
A shrink maybe?
Some say DubaiEye, thanks.
And many are running to the internet!
The reality is simple the face to face exchange seems to have gone the way of the dodo bird and look at how we are running our lives!
Here is the conversation.
Doctors are in the House.
Dr. Shereen Habib, from the Well Woman Clinic, and Dr Sean Petherbridge from Keith Nicholl Medical Centre joined me to talk medicine.
WOW is the one word to summ up last night.
Depression is a huge issue and based on the calls and sms messages there are many people looking for answers.

Sports a waste of time?
So is there really much of a difference between baseball and cricket? Tim said yes while I can reduce it to chasing balls. Not much difference if you ask me they are both a bore that a lot of people love.
The other question was how do we get people out to watch the local sport and does it matter if it it is not sponsored? I think we pretty much discard anything that doesn't have millions of promotion behind it.
How do we fix it?
1% of professional event promotion cost is put back into the local scene!
Tim asked if it is that easy, YES it is!
Why don't we do it? Becasue we don't think it is possible!
Tech Fatigue, you a sufferer?
How is it possible that there are so many tech advances so fast and that we need an upgrade?
It is not possible!
Really, we DO NOT need to have the upgrade on most devices on a yearly basis.
Consumerism gone mad?
How do we sort out the need from the want?
Most of us can't and we are getting pulled in all sorts of directions because of the marketing machine!

Call you Lazy!
What do you think?
Because of the low cost of help are we turning into a lazy bunch of arrogant people?
Sure we painted the question with a wide brush but look around, how much of the daily dirty work are you doing?
I think we are getting soft and we seem to look down on those who do scrub the toilet!
Hmmm....
Talking Cars!
Here is the conversation with Callum from Autodata.ae about your ride. I think cars are one of the common speaking points for us all.
Great conversation about the Ford vs Ram pick-up.
You know I would love to tool around in a pick-up.
The best piece of the show was Callum talking about a car that runs off compressed air, so he says!

Security guards and power?
Nightline asked is security guards need to have more power.
Did you know there may be as many as 30, 000 security guards in Dubai?
And did you know that 1200 Dirhams a month is the average salary?
What about putting a gun in the security guards hand? Pepper spray?
There was no cut and dry answer here.
It would seem that people figure things are working pretty well today so why meddle with things.
I loved the SMS that suggested that Emiraties need to take on this career and that would lead to great change.
Here is the podcast.
Fitness with Marcus
This week Marcus walked us through the wild world of fitness.
The golden rule? Simple. Steer clear of any plastic and there is no easy way to workout. "If you want it that bad you will have to work a little bit for it"!
Loved the SMS talking about the gyms. Does anyone really think there is value in trash talking other gyms?
We didn't get to talk about kids this week.
Next week it is all about working out with your kids.
